How is your front door looking?! Is it primed and polished for those all important first day of school pics?!
And you? Primed and ready? Or a bit wobbly on your hinges?
Your child is starting school. This is a big deal and feeling wobbly (both you and them) is utterly normal. SO many emotions surround this time.
Excitement. You have shaped this little person and now they get to experience school as a little independent being, putting into practice all the skills you have helped them learn.
Fear of the unknown … Six hours seems a long time to be out of your sight and influenced by many other people. How do you stay as close? As connected?
Pride. The way they look in their uniform. The exciting stories they will share with you after school. The way they will grow and develop.
Sadness. The baby years are done. They are growing up. How has time passed so fast?
Trepidation. Will they remember how to wipe their bottom?! Who will be there to help with their lunch? Will they find friends? Will they be a good friend to others?
It is a whirlwind. And one that is inching ever closer as the summer slides by.
But it WILL be ok. We can’t stop the march of time but we can make the transition as smooth and exciting and full of positives as possible.
Starting school signifies a pretty big shift in family life. The logistics, the practicalities but most of all the change in dynamics. The shift and change can be far gentler for everyone if you get a ‘heads up’ on the demands school will have on your little one and learn how to understand, anticipate and meet their needs. We are here to help!
In our school edition, we have provided you with a guide for before school, after school and bedtime. Each section gives you a practical set of ideas to ease worry, maintain and build connection with your little one and make starting school as exciting and enjoyable as possible for all of you.
Wishing you huge luck for September 😊
